Dieting Aimed At Reducing Blood Cholesterol Levels

Actually no so called best diets for high cholesterol even exist. In truth, your own liver manufactures all of the cholesterol that anybody requires. Whether you eat a diet for high cholesterol or low cholesterol, cholesterol molecules are critical for proper bodily functions, and the liver makes the necessary cholesterol demanded by body processes.
Vitamin C
If you are a normally healthy person, you should have sufficient vitamin c and antioxidants in your regular diet for high cholesterol. The important issue is that bad cholesterol levels are dangerous, and high levels are caused by a dietary lack of vitamin C. With proper amounts of Vitamin C, your high cholesterol levels can be managed successfully.
Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes
The National Cholesterol Education Program of the US National Institutes of Health has created a diet to lower cholesterol which basically requires therapeutic lifestyle changes. Changing food choices is an important initial step in lowering cholesterol before any drugs are prescribed. Some patients with high cholesterol issues are usually eating excessively fatty foods. Once they start to make recommended food choices, cholesterol begin to drop.
The primary goal of these type diets is a lowering of saturated fat content that is a primary causative factor of high cholesterol. Lower consumption of milk products and red meat, increased amounts of soluble fiber, fresh fruits and vegetables, and replacing unhealthy animal fat with unsaturated fat sources like olive oil, canola oil or peanut oil are all helpful. It is important that your best diet for high cholesterol should not consist of more than 200 mg of dietary cholesterol per day. Care should be taken not to gain weight at all; in fact you should target and maintain a healthy weight.
There are several recommendations made by the TLC that cover all the primary food groups. A series of government guidelines have been developed showing the number and size of acceptable portions. The chart was adapted from the traditional healthy food pyramid to help plan a food menu that has safer levels of saturated fats and cholesterol. It is probably better, and definitely more realistic, to follow a low cholesterol diet, rather than trying to survive on a 100% cholesterol free diet.
High Cholesterol Foods
All animal products are considered high cholesterol foods, including but limited to eggs, poultry, red meat, fish and whole milk products. Of course sweets like cookies, pies, cakes, and muffins would be considered highly processed and unhealthy food choices. These have large amounts of fat including trans-fats. Finally, deep fried and fatty foods are very high cholesterol. It is crucial to consume known high cholesterol content foods in moderation. Do not overindulge a high cholesterol diet on a regular basis.
When changing your lifestyle to a healthy diet for high cholesterol, expect to lose weight or maintain your current weight while selecting the proper foods to achieve lower blood cholesterol levels. The basic dietary guidelines are simple to understand and should be easy to follow, but we suggest that you develop a customized menu based on your specific likes and dislikes in food selection and budget restrictions.
Do You Actually Need To Shed Those Pounds?

Weight loss is a big issue today, when so many young girls (and boys) are suffering from anorexia, bulimia, and other eating disorders. Dieting can be a very good and necessary thing, but can also turn un-necessarily into something tragic that affects millions {family and friends included); and may even cause death. Knowing when you need to lose weight and when you do not is important in the finding the right balance between personal health, good self image and the dangers of over-dieting.
It’s useful to remember that losing weight is a very personal choice. However, if you are more than 20 pounds overweight, losing the pounds is important for your health. In making your choice about losing weight, taking a look at the recommended weight for someone of your height is where you should start. Everyone’s body is different. We all have a different fat to muscle ratio. It’s good advice to see your doctor if you feel like you need to lose weight. A doctor can confirm this or put your mind to rest by telling you that your weight is normal. This is the best way to make sure that you do or don’t need to diet to be healthy.
There are also times, however, when you definitely do not need to lose weight. Supposing you aren’t as thin as your favorite actor or model, that doesn’t mean you need to lose weight. Often, models and actresses are airbrushed in photos to look more toned. Often they have personal trainers that work with them for hours every day, to help them stay in shape. If your body weight is normal, you do not need to lose weight even if you are a pants size bigger than your ideal celebrity.
Your don’t need to lose weight just because you gain it! People gain weight for a number of reasons. It’s important for teens to realize that this is especially common during puberty, and for the few years after. If you gain weight check out the rest of your body—are you going through a growth spurt in height as well? Remembering that muscle to fat ratio is also a factor: don’t worry about gaining weight when you are lifting at the gym. As you tone your muscles, you will look better, but because muscles are heavier than fat, you may actually gain weight!
Lastly, you don’t need to lose weight simply because someone else makes a rude comment about your looks. People can be cruel, and everyone has a different body make up. You can’t be part of every social groups idea of body image. If you are happy with your weight and it is within the normal range for someone of your age and height, then chances are that the rude comment is just a fixed idea someone has, and not a sign you actually do need to lose weight.
At the end of the day, everyone wants to be happy: be happy with yourself and eat a healthy diet; and you shouldn’t need to worry about losing weight.

The most recent Olympic games are now over for another four years; but no matter where you live on this planet, the odds are pretty good that you have managed to watch at least a part of the performance.
If you are an American, or an aspiring athlete of any nationality, you can only be inspired by Mark Phelps.
Using Phelps as an example, ask yourself: Did you see any hesitation to dive in and set yet another record? Do you think that there was any question in his mind as to his ultimate success?
The answer to both of those rhetoricals is a resounding NO – And why not?
Could be the unequaled coaching.
Could be any one or more of a lot of things; but, it could also be the seemingly endless number of defeats along the way. Mark Phelps first had to overcome the inborn fear of the water; then he had to learn to swim–to coordinate all the muscles in his body to propel himself forward.
Then came the endless “failures”. No matter what he did, there was always someone who could swim faster, farther than he could…and they made it look so easy.
And now, many years, many “failures” later, he is not only an Olympic success, his success is unequaled in Olympic history.
Using Phelps as an inspiration, become an Olympic Dieter; especially, and only, if you have “failed” often enough.
The opportunities for dieting failure are all around. Do a “google” for “diets” and you will be returned twenty-nine million, five hundred thousand (that’s 29,500,000) pages. Even if you have already tried half of them (at least it FEELS that way), you are still faced with the opportunity to fail another 15 million times. And that’s good; but a bit extreme.
To become a true “Olympic Dieter”, ten or fifteen failures will be enough to put you in the “semi-finals” at least. Of course, the longer you have been trying and the more times you have failed, the more qualified you’ve become.
You can’t have missed Slim Fast, Nutrisystem, and Jenny Craig. They do the most advertising; and that usually means they are the most successful and make the most money.
True “Olympic Dieters” however, measure success in weight, not dollars. You decide.
So go ahead. If one of those remaining 15,000,000 pages strikes your fancy, give it a shot. Just remember to call it another “training exercise”. For the purposes of this article…failures are good. Required, in fact.
My most recent “training exercise” involved $60 per month cups of “secret Oriental tea”( I don’t know if it was green, black or white–only that it was “not available in stores”).
The accompanying instructions advised that I should EAT LESS, EXERCISE MORE, AND DRINK TWO CUPS OF THE MAGIC TEA every day.
At this point in an “Olympic Dieter’s” training, the question arises: “And what happens if I eat less… exercise more…and DON’Tdrink the miracle tea?”
See how easy it is to get to the semi-finals? But, numerous failures were required to learn this most important lesson.
In case you missed it, losing weight is not magic – its just eat less and exercise more – nothing else – but you have to decide to get serious!
Learn More About How To Locate The Best Weight Management Program For You

Are you ready to lose weight? If the answer is “YES”, you may be interested in joining a weight loss program. When it comes to joining a weight loss program, you will find that you have a number of options. If this is your first time investigating such programs, you may be unsure as to what you should be looking for. If that is the case, you will want to continue reading on.
One of the best ways to go about finding the perfect weight loss program for yourself is to ask yourself a number of important questions. One of the first questions that you should ask is: “How much time do I have to devote to meetings?” If you were to join a local weight loss program, you would probably be required to attend weekly meetings. You may not have the time to do so. In that case, you should look into joining an online program, since they are specifically designed for those with busy schedules.
Another question that you will want to ask yourself, when looking to find the perfect weight loss program is concerning your willpower. With an online program, you will be given more freedom, since you do not have to physically report to meetings and answer to group leaders. While this freedom is nice, it has allowed many hopeful individuals to go off track. If you do not think that you can stick with your weight goals and instructions, it may be better to join a local program.
Another one of the many questions that you will want to ask yourself, when looking for a weight loss program to join, is how much money you have to spend. While it is possible to find free “lose weight” programs, both locally or online, it is actually quite rare. In your search for the right weight program, you will find that they have a wide range of expenses. Commonly, you will find that online programs are much less expensive than those operated locally. If you are on a tight budget, the cost of each weight loss program that you come across will play a large role in your decision.
You should also ask yourself just how embarrassed with your current weight or your physical appearance you currently are. Although you should have nothing to be ashamed of, you may still feel that way. If that is the case, you may be reluctant to attend local weight loss meetings. Of course, you need to remember that everyone else in your meetings is likely feeling the same way; but you don’t have to put yourself in an awkward situation. If you are concerned with your appearance or what others may think of you, you may want to look into joining an online program instead.
The above mentioned questions are just a few of the many that you should ask yourself if you are interested in joining a weight loss program. While there are a number of benefits to joining a locally operated weight loss program, as well as an online weight loss program, you need to make the decision that is best for you and your own needs.

If You Are Alive, You Are On A Diet

The dictionary definition of a diet is simply “the sum of food consumed by a person or other organism.”
No suffering stated or implied.
Every organism alive is on a DIET…has been since it’s life began…and will be till it’s life ends.
A human baby thrives on a diet of milk alone–natural or “formulated”. Soon enough that diet expands to include strained thises and thats; and before long the transition to solid food. Somehow these youngsters know when they reached a healthy limit and they turn instantly to some other diversion.
Never bored, and living in a relatively stress free world, they simply eat to live rather than “living to eat”.
Living to eat comes later, and is a learned rather than instinctual response to hunger.
Exposure to the all pervasive world of advertising comes along at just about the same time as the transition to solid food. Now instead of being satisfied by the healthful and nutritious offerings from a loving parent, they are tempted and re-tempted by a constant barrage of gooey treats.
Prove it to yourself. Watch an hour or so of what is currently being offered as and see for yourself. A few dozen empty calorie messages later, you will probably find yourself very “hungry”; and it will be a totally misguided hunger that has nothing to do with “eating to live”.
And thus begins the “eating in response to” experience. Some of us eat “in response” to boredom; for many it is stress; for some it comes with frustration. For a lot of us it is simply a response to suggestion–TV, and radio, magazine ads, billboard blasts,–you name it. It often seems that the world is conspiring to cause improper eating.
Just how effective that “conspiracy” can be is borne out by the fact that over half of the world’s population is overweight. Over HALF–and increasing (poor pun intended) every year. And that’s in the face of natural selection–nature’s way of “thinning the herd”. We who are overweight tend to have fewer and less healthy offspring–the ultimate “double whammy”. We pay a dear price for these extra pounds; and our kids are practically destined to the same fate.
Since you’ve read this far, it’s safe to assume that you’ve already been around the “dieter’s world/hell” long enough to be familiar with the buzz words: NEW MIRACLE DIET, LOSE WEIGHT FAST, THE LAST DIET YOU WILL EVER NEED, GREEN/BLACK/WHITE TEA DIET, etc.
Just when you think you’ve seen and heard it all, put things in a more frightening perspective. Google returned 29,500,000 results for the word “diets”. That’s TWENTY NINE AND A HALF MILLION.
Can they all be effective? Sure. Because the bottom line for all of them…at least the legal ones…is simple: EAT LESS…EXERCISE MORE. Twenty nine and a half million pages condensed into four words. And you thought this was gonna be tough?
Sure, lots of those millions of pages suggest that you: EAT LESS…EXERCISE MORE and “drink this magic tea” or “eat this magic supplement” or “drink gallons of cabbage soup” or some such.
The question that so many of us fail to ask is: “What happens if I just EAT LESS…EXERCISE MORE and also save a gazillion dollars by not buying any of your magic pills, potions and soup recipes?”
We all know the answer; yet we continue searching for the “magic” diet, routine, and/or supplement.
At the risk of short circuiting over twenty-nine million other suggestions, it’s time to accept the fact that the only “magic” is in us–programmed there since birth. We simply need to get back in touch.
Western Science Vs Complementary Medicine And Aura Healing

It seems a little unusual that the forms of medicine that have been around for several millennia are called “alternative” and modern western medicine, which has only be around for a few hundred years, is called “traditional”. Typically, the reaction to that is to say that western medicine is based on science and other forms of medicine are not. That idea is simply not true. The fact is that Chinese Medicine, as one example, has been practiced and documented for over two thousand years. The important idea here is “documented” because that indicates that the Chinese created theories of medicine, tested those theories, and documented what worked and what didn’t. That’s what the scientific method is all about. You don’t have to have all kinds of electronic gizmos to be scientific. Isaac Newton didn’t have those gizmos either.
One of the biggest differences between alternative medicine and modern western medicine is that the holistic forms include the theory of the human aura energy. A lot of people say that the human aura energy is a lot of hocus pocus and isn’t scientific, but, in fact, it does fit nicely with the most up to date thinking in western science.
Historically, humans are like ostriches when it comes to forms of energy. If they don’t see it, then it doesn’t exist. People often deny the validity of energy they don’t understand or give it mystical properties. Now we are aware of electromagnetic, gravitational, and nuclear forces and the attempt has been underway for some time to unify all of these different forms of energy into a unified field theory. Given our history of incredible discovery it is only arrogance to assume that today we have discovered every form of energy and everything else there is to discover.
Most people are familiar with science from the Newtonian point of view. That is typically taught in high school and the first year of college. We’re taught that planets are like giant marbles moving around in space and being acted upon by forces like gravity and collisions. It’s the viewpoint of sort of a cosmic marble ring. That point of view was also reflected in early atomic theory. I’m sure you’re familiar with the billiard ball theory of electrons orbiting around a nucleus made of protons and neutrons.
Well, all that changed around 1920 when Erwin Schrodinger demonstrated that electrons, protons, and neutrons could also be thought of as waves. About the same time Albert Einstein came up with his now famous equation E=MC2 relating matter to energy. These two events dramatically changed physics because it shifted scientific thinking from a rigid, static marble viewpoint to a vibrational, possibility viewpoint… but this different way of looking at the world is not generally known because it’s typically not taught until the second year of college physics and chemistry.
Since Schrodinger and Einstein there has been a constant effort to discover the most fundamental building blocks of the universe. Today, string theory is the leading edge of theoretical physics. In essence, this theory says that the basic building blocks are inconceivably small vibrations. The theory investigates the properties and energetic interactions of these most subtle multi-dimensional vibrations… and it’s those properties and interactions that ultimately create denser and denser matter until atoms, molecules, TVs, and people come into being. So the scientists are saying that vibrations are the beginning of everything.
That is precisely the viewpoint found in Chinese Medicine and other forms of holistic energy medicine. Chinese Medicine calls the fundamental building energy of the universe Qi. This energy manifests in denser and denser forms and varieties to eventually form the world and human beings. In a sense, modern science is catching up to the basic theories of oriental medicine, yoga, and the martial arts that have been around for thousands of years.
The Origin of Fitness Spa Vacations

Many people are looking for various fitness travel locations they can escape to. The main objective is to separate themselves from the busy urban environment that they have to deal with everyday to relax and rejuvenate. Fitness resorts are among the greatest things we can ask for in our generation. It is interesting to know where these fitness resorts that bring us amazing fitness travel experiences originated from.
The practice of going to hot springs or cold springs for health purposes can be traced back to prehistoric times. This is a validated fact. Archaeologists discovered certain weapons and offerings from the Bronze Age in the vicinity of the hot springs in both France and Czechoslovakia. Ancient legends, however, claim that it was the early Celtic Kings that started this belief when they discovered the hot springs located at Bath, England.
People of different cultures believed in the natural powers of water since the earlier times. There are those who find means to go to different parts of the globe to bathe in springs, wells or rivers known to help sick people. There are even rituals performed by the native Americans, Greeks, Egyptians, Romans and many more for physical and spiritual purification. The respect that ancient people have in water and its miraculous wonders was so high that even building construction near bodies of water were either prohibited or limited. In any case that a construction is done, it was never permanent. The high regard for water is even carried out to this day as evident in the many religious ceremonies performed with water.
There are very many stories on the origin of the word “spa”. There are those who believe that it started as an acronym for ancient phrases in the Latin language. Some, however, believe that it came from a Walloon word, the second language spoken in Wallonia, Belgium. Others say that the word “spa” came from a Belgian town of the same name, which was later developed to become a term that refers to the definition we know today.
In a commercial context, many health spas claim that the word originated in the old Latin language. They say that spa is an acronym for the phrases “Salus Per Aquam” or “Sanitas Per Aquam”. When both phrases are translated to the English language, they say “health through water”. There is, however, no existing proof that this theory is true. There has been no evidence found both by the founders and linguists that the acronym was passed on throughout the centuries to connote the spas that we know right now.
Throughout the years, there have been so many illnesses caused by the deficiency in iron. Today, there are iron tablets or capsules that we can take as supplement. During the Middle Ages, people lacking in iron were given a drink of spring water rich in iron. In 1326, an ironmaster by the name of Collin le Loup claimed a cure for the maladies caused by iron deficiency when the chalybeate spring where the water was coming from was named Espa, which is a Walloon word for “fountain”.
Centuries later, the English people revived the old Roman idea on medicinal bathing in some towns such as Bath. In the 1570’s, William Slingsby who once visited the town of Spa in Belgium, discovered a chalybeate spring that he called Spaw. He later built a wall around the spring to enclose it, making it the first resort in England for drinking medical waters. In the 1590’s, Dr. Timothy Bright named that resort The English Spaw, which was the dawn of the use of the word “spa” as a generic description to such establishments rather than the name of the Belgian town. In the following years, spa is used to refer to bathing resorts that the ancient rich visited for cleansing.
Shredding Layers Off Your Hips: Why Interval Training Is The Most Effective Exercise To Lose Belly Fat

A lot of people are looking for a great way to burn off belly fat. After years in the gym there aren’t too many exercise routines i don’t know about. So when it comes to weight loss I can tell you with absolute sincerity that every exercise works for fat loss. So all of them work. except some will your entire life to work, while others are supercharged.
Now why would you ever think of spending all your time on the exercises that would take forever?
60 minutes a week of the more effective workouts will lose more weight then ten standard cardio sessions.
So which exercises have this kind of effect at losing weight? These exercises are unique in the fact that they change your body into a fat burning mode for up to thirty eight hours after your workout. That means you have found the answer to losing belly fat while taking a nap.
In order to get this right you need to create a state in your body called EPOC. EPOC occurs by naturally increasing your metabolism by using up energy pockets from your muscles, your body instintively needs to resupply these and the only place it can find the extra energy is from your fat stores.
This kind of fat burning only happens when you do exercise like interval training or resistance training, anything that brings about an anaerobic state.
There was research done on this a few years back. The study, done by Trembley, discovered that interval training was several times more effective at weight loss than standard steady state exercise. People didn’t stop at the Trembley study, pioneers in this field have advanced interval training into a routine that is incredibly effective at weight loss. Some of the routines have provided results of up to 5lbs a week.
high intensity interval training is a mixture of very intense exercise for a brief period of time followed by a rest. Your rest is a vital part of this, its important as you need to put everything into the sprints. The more intense your interval, the more reserves you use and the longer your body stays in epoc. The great thing about it is that for beginners twenty minutes, three times a week will provide you with visible changes in your fat loss.

Just about everyone has at least heard about the Bowflex home gym through commercials, print ads or infomercials that they have been running for years. Many people wonder about the claims that they make about this in home fitness unit and if it can really help people get into “the best shape of your life” as easily as they say.
However, the question most people have after they see an infomercial about the bowflex home gym is, can it really deliver the kind of results by using it for only twenty minutes a day and only three times a week?
If you have ever caught one of the Bowflex home gyms television advertisements, then you have seen some pretty incredible looking pecs and abs which are attributed to the machine. Is it all hype or is there some validity to the claims about what this at strength equipment wonder machine can do?
Rubbing shoulders with others who are committed to fitness is one of the reasons that many people like to go into the local gym on a regular basis. This helps to keep them motivated. But, many others prefer to be able to work out at home and the Bowflex home gym is a piece of equipment that can provide a number of great workouts.
There are those who are experienced in health and fitness issues. These people use traditional commercial fitness equipment which are found in gyms around the country. The results have almost unanimously been that Bowflex home gyms are a viable alternative to the bulky and costly commercial exercise equipment found in professional settings.
The design that is at the heart of the Bowflex home gym very closely simulates the kind of range of motions that you are able to achieve through the use of free weights. However, instead of relying on the force of gravity against the plates of the weight equipment, the Bowflex employs a system of resistance that is produced by utilizing a cable and pulley structure.
The cable and pulley arrangement is attached to resistance rods which act like very strong springs that have potential energy stored up. This is what provides the resistance that is so important to a good workout, building muscle strength and tone.
Fitness experts say that it is quite an ingenious design because it allows you to position your body for the exercises without having to worry about the angle needed for gravity, as you must be aware of when using free weight equipment.
This in turn allows the Bowflex home gym to be more compact in the overall use of space because you are able to do a bench press while you are in a seated position. Normally, you would need to be spread out on a bench in order to do such an exercise using free weights. This way, you can workout in a more restricted space if needed.
The unique use of the resistance rods in the Bowflex home gym also means that the weight of this piece of portable fitness equipment is much less than with other kinds of home gym equipment. Most other home gyms rely on some kind of weights, making them heavy and expensive to ship and very difficult to move. Bowflex home gyms are considerably easier to move either to a different room or a completely different location if needed.
Another popular feature of the Bowflex home gym is that you can change the level of resistance almost on-the-fly. You do not have to get up from your workout position and handle awkward plates as you need to do with free weight equipment.
This feature is a wonderful time-saver and allows you to very rapidly move through a set of different exercises. In addition, you can easily move into some of the more advanced techniques. Feedback from users indicates that the Bowflex home gym can be an effective way to enjoy the benefits of home fitness exercise routines.
The Memory Foam Pillow

Memory foam unlocks secret to a great night’s sleep Feeling run down? Feel like you’re missing out on experiences in your life? A good night’s sleep could be the path to a better future. People have tried a myriad of tactics to accomplish that elusive night of perfect sleep. Medication, diet and exercise have all shown themselves as effective means of finding a good night’s sleep but the quickest and easiest way to get some Z’s is just a trip to the store away.
Spending money to buy a memory foam pillow is not only an investment in your sleep, but also in a healthy future. By improving circulation and blood flow, the proper pillow can lead to a better waking and sleeping experience. These pillows ensure a perfect balance of weight, opening pathways to increased circulation.
A memory foam pillow protects the spine and neck by adjusting itself to the specific needs for the comfort of each user. While other pillows become bumpy, stiff, and flat with use, memory foam bounces back after your perfect night’s sleep, ready for you in brand-new condition the very next day.
It can even help with snoring, helping your partner get a good night’s sleep as well. Various products have flooded the market, all promising to stop snoring, making life easier for both you and your partner, but a simple memory foam pillow can give you the same result.
It can also improve health by opening up your airways. Snoring can block nasal passages that deliver essential oxygen to the blood stream. The foam inside the pillow easily adjusts to the contours of each individual sleeper, providing essential back and neck support, allowing air to pass through the nasal passages and into the lungs more freely, leading to less snoring and restless nights.
Those using traditional feather or cotton-stuffed pillows often complain of a stiff back, aching neck pains and excessive lethargy from a lack of sleep. Tossing and turning due to insufficient spine and neck support leads to further health problems caused by lack of sleep.
Those lacking sleep often experience a poor performance at work and school, a lack of energy and a feeling of being run down and in a haze. Loss of sleep can also pose a threat to work safety, particularly for those working with heavy equipment and machinery. Even driving to work is a hazard for those who’ve not gotten the proper sleep.
