Exercise Balls as Office Chairs – Trend or Fad?

Over the last several years there have been an ever-increasing number of professionals opting to swap out their conventional desk chairs for exercise ball chairs.
What I’m referring to is taking one of those large rubber balls (also called balance or fitness balls), used in health clubs & for physical therapy, and substituting it for the chair at your office desk.
In some cases employees bring in their own, but a number of well-known companies like Google, Sprint Nextel, and BMW are also providing them as seating options for their people.
Of course when observing the actions of corporations, one can’t totally disregard ulterior motives, especially since an exercise ball can be had for about $30 versus $400 to $1100 for a decent ergonomic desk chair. You do the math. continue reading….
